Air pollution is an invisible killer to health.  Recent issue of fine particles PM2.5 raises particularly high attention of the public.  NML announced the expansion of two national standards in gas to provide a traceable, accurate and stable standard for energy conservation and carbon emissions reduction.  Two systems, including Gravimetric High-Pressure Cylinder Gas Mixture Supply and Certification System and Gas Concentration Dilution Device and Analysis Equipment Calibration System, are established to serve as a threshold for vehicle emissions testing and harmful gases detection in workplace.

Emissions test is one of the legal requirements in vehicles and motorcycles for governing air quality.  The in-house system of Gravimetric High-Pressure Cylinder Gas Mixture Supply and Certification System, providing available mixtures of CO + CO2 + C3H8 in N2, are prepared gravimetrically in accordance with ISO Guide 34, ISO 6142 and ISO 6143 which represent the best achievable analytical uncertainty.  It would be provided to support more than 2 700 motorcycle/500 vehicle local inspection stations for stable and comparable measurements of these gases, therefore helps to contain air pollution control via consistent emission measurement traceability.

The second system - Gas Concentration Dilution Device and Analysis Equipment Calibration System are expanded to generate the analyzers of nitric oxide (NO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) for calibrating, which can not only improve the traceability of NO/SO2 concentration measurement needed in labor workplaces, but also is an useful index for acid rain detection and instrument calibration.  Monitoring industrial emissions is required to protect workers from long-term exposure to bad air quality and even toxic environment.  The system helps ensure the gas concentration measurement accuracy to achieve the purpose of protecting the safety of workers, and enhancing air quality of the living environment.
