Introduction
The Laboratory has established the standards in the fields of mass, force, torque, pressure, vacuum and micro/nano-mechanical property. For the mass standards, a primary mass standard, National Pt-Ir kilogram prototype No. 78, has been set up to provide the weight traceability. To comply with the latest SI re-definition, in which kilogram is defined by the Planck constant, measurement systems and technologies for realizing the new kilogram definition using the X-ray crystal density method (or silicon sphere method) have been established. In the field of force and torque, the calibration services are available for several types of force and torque transducers. In the field of vacuum, the calibration services are developed for varieties of vacuum gauges. In the field of micro/nano-mechanical property, a nano-indentation system and a micro/nano universal tensile test system have been established for measuring young’s modulus and hardness of thin films, devices and materials at micro/nano-meter scale.
